VIDEOOOOOOS!!

My friends Ben, Cody, and Daniel visited Jen in San Jose this last Labor Day and made a trailer and a series of three videos. I can't find the second one but here are the three and I will post the second when I find it.

Here's another video of friends on a trip. It's on my friend Tracy's tumblr:

To do: make a fun documentary like these...now I just need to go on a fun trip...but where?

so good

I just started listening to The Peasant Princess (Song of Songs) sermon series from Mars Hill in Seattle. It's Emily's (friend in Seattle) home church and we went there last Sunday. I love how Mark Driscoll talks so candidly! Check it out here.

This is a painting by Chagall, one of my favorite artists. He painted a whole series inspired by the Song of Songs.

waiting

Jill, Kel, and I missed our flight by 6 min this morning. The airport was super crowded. We're now waiting 4 hours to be on standby for a 11 am flight out of Seattle. nbd. We're just hanging out now. The delay made us realize how much we really love Seattle when the first thought that came to our minds was, "oh well, I guess we'll have to live here. No flights, no problem". Sometimes a halt in plans is a good thing. We had time to get coffee and just breath for a couple hours. It's been nice.

PS. right now I am in Seattle w. three dear friends. Today was clear, crisp, and beautiful. Some of the trees still have their colorful fall flowers. I love it here, mostly because it is like a mountain town on the coast.

crochet = relaxing, fun, creative, wearable

My new favorite pastime is crocheting. It fits the cooler/fall weather and both the process and outcome are enjoyable. :) So far I've made 3 scarfs and I'm working on a blanket.

an early thanksgiving

This last weekend was spent in San Diego with friends and my brother. After a game of over the line we took a quick trip to Trader Joe's and an hour later produced an amazing Thanksgiving feast. We loved every minute of it. Following dinner we played a game of Cranium (girls won!) next to the fire in the fireplace. I am thankful for friends! p.s. i loved seeing Tracy, BT, Cody, Ashley and Jen too!

SHEEP

"My sheep listen to my voice; I know them & they follow me. I give them eternal life, & they shall never perish; no one can snatch them out of my hand." John 10:27-28
But when the kindness & love of God our Savior appeared, he saved us, not because of righteous things we had done, but because of His mercy. He saved us through the washing of rebirth & renewal  by the Holy Spirit, whom He poured out on us generously through Jesus Christ out Savior." Titus 3:4-6

FALL MORNING

The mornings are getting a little colder and it's getting a little harder to climb out of bed. If it weren't for my dogs, Skylar and Lulu, jumping on my bed, insisting that I greet the day, I don't know how long it would have taken. As much as I love to get up early, I do love to just lay in bed, smell the fresh air, and enjoy the moment. These are a couple of my favorite things about the morning. A fresh cup of french pressed coffee, omelet and toast, my anthro birthday quilt from all my friends, my blanket that my great aunt Margie made, and my doggies.

I hope you take just a second more to enjoy the morning: "Because of the Lord's great love we are not consumed, for His compassions never fail. They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness. I say to myself, "The Lord is my portion; therefore I will wait for Him." The Lord is good to those whose hope is in Him, to the one who seeks him; it is good to wait quietly for the salvation of the Lord. It is good for a man to bear the yoke while he is young. Let him sit alone in silence, for the Lord has laid it on him."Lamentations 3:22-28

hello week

This last weekend I went up to Big Bear for a retreat and returned refreshed and encouraged.
"Though you have not seen him, you love him; and even though you do not see him now, you believe in him and are filled with an inexpressible and glorious joy, for you are receiving the goal of your faith, the salvation of your souls." 1 Peter 1:8-9
[ps. I would love to have a door like this in my home when I grow up]

GRATITUDE

Mrs. Gill, a wonderful woman who truly loves Jesus, sent me this. I thought it fit perfectly with the theme of this blog and wanted to share. enjoy.

"Rejoice always; pray without ceasing; in everything give thanks; for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus." 2 Thess. 5:16-18

"Gratitude unlocks the fulness of life.
It turns what we have into enough,
and more.

It turns denial into acceptance,
chaos into order,
and confusion to clarity.

It can turn a meal into a feast,
a house into a home,
a stranger into a friend.

Gratitude makes sense of our past,
brings peace for today,
and creates a vision for tomorrow."
-Melody Beattie

BACKPACK IT

Some of my favorite people, including my one and only brother, and I spent the weekend of October 24th in Bishop, CA. We camped in Buttermilk county the first night and then backpacked up into Lamarck Lake and stayed there the second night...It was unbelievable! It was short and oh so sweet. It was such a great group and everyone built each other up. I don't know if we could have been happier. =)

YAY! It rained! What a blessing it was! Kelley and I skipped Micro class, drove to Carpinteria and played in the rain and got frozen yogurt. There's just something special about the rain. Everything seems to slow down and all I want to do is sing and jump in a puddle.

SWEET SUNDAY

I hope you are all having a wonderful Sunday. It especially feels like fall today and there is a chance of showers from Mon to Wed...please. Here is a great link to the new home decor magazine lonny. The best part is that you can view the whole thing online, for free! http://www.lonnymag.com/

TUES/THURS

Every Tuesday and Thursday Kelley and I have a break between Anatomy and Microbiology class which we spend, most recently, at Peet's coffee in Ventura, reading C.S. Lewis, talking, or working on homework. This is a pretty difficult season...Kel has to drive 45 min to my house every Tues/Thurs and thereafter drive a total of 1 hour to Oxnard-Ventura-Somis. This is a shout out to her for her joyful perseverance with this ridiculous and sometimes unfeasible commute. You're going to be such an amazing nurse. People are going to be blessed in the future because you're stickin' with this now. =)

PRAYER

Please pray for Daisy Love as well as other children who are suffering from disease. Please pray for children who are forgotten and are hurting alone.

He called a little child and had him stand among them. And he said: "I tell you the truth, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven. Therefore, whoever humbles himself like this child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven. And whoever welcomes a little child like this in my name welcomes me." Matthew 18:2-5

SAN DIEGO WEEKEND

Kelley and I made the beautiful and sometimes seemingly endless drive to San Diego to visit our magnificent friends. We miss the community of college life! When O when will we all be together again? Click on image to see it up close.
